What is BPC-157?
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide β a chain of 15 amino acids β derived from a protein found in human gastric juice. It is one of the most researched peptides for tissue healing, with over 100 published studies examining its effects on tendons, ligaments, muscles, gut lining, and the nervous system.
Mechanism of Action
BPC-157 research suggests it promotes healing through multiple pathways: upregulating growth factor expression (VEGF, EGF), promoting angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), modulating nitric oxide pathways, and supporting the gut-brain axis. Its gastric origin may explain its particular effectiveness for GI-related applications.
How to Reconstitute BPC-157
BPC-157 vials are measured in milligrams but dosed in micrograms (mcg). This is a critical distinction β confusing mg and mcg leads to 1,000Γ dosing errors.
- 5 mg vial β 2 mL BAC water (2.5 mg/mL = 2,500 mcg/mL)
- 10 mg vial β 3 mL BAC water (3.33 mg/mL = 3,333 mcg/mL)
Common Dosing Protocols
Research protocols typically use 200β600 mcg per day, often split into two injections (morning and evening). BPC-157 can be administered subcutaneously near the injury site for localized effects or systemically (abdomen) for gut healing and general recovery. Some research suggests oral administration (mixing with water and drinking) may be effective for GI applications, though injectable routes are more studied.
BPC-157 vs TB-500
Both are popular recovery peptides but work differently. BPC-157 is dosed in micrograms and excels at tendon/ligament repair and gut healing. TB-500 is dosed in milligrams and focuses on cell migration and systemic inflammation. Many protocols combine both for synergistic effects. See our comparison page for a detailed breakdown.
Storage
Unreconstituted: freezer at β20Β°C. Reconstituted: fridge at 2β8Β°C, use within 28 days. BPC-157 is relatively stable but should still be protected from light and temperature swings.
